Educational Opportunities
Medical Reserve Corps members come from a variety of background and enter the program with varying credentials. In an effort to coordinate and integrate the local MRC resources into both local and national emergency response organization, the MRC has developed a set of “core competencies”
These represent the baseline level of knowledge and skill that ALL MRC volunteers should have regardless of their roles within the MRC units.
While we will be offering instructor lead courses, we also realize the usefulness of online training.

Some of our members have decided to expand their role and select areas of special interest beyond the general disaster response. In an effort to accommodate these interests, we will be providing on-site training which can be supplemented by online resources we have listed training resources that can be used to supplement your knowledge.

Drs. Pat Santucci and Abbe Finn had 2 sessions in Disaster Mental Health for over 200 hundred professionals late spring at Lee Memorial Hospital . The workshop was so well received, that they were asked to do a repeat for the Lee County School System. This 3rd workshop included over 100 school nurses, psychologists, school counselors and social workers and was sponsored by FGCU, Lee County School System and the SW Florida MRC.
